Welcome to the San Diego Digital SLR Photography Group

We welcome all DSLR photographers in the San Diego area to our online camera club. Our aim is to be a center of excellence for DSLR photography in San Diego, California.

San Diego Digital SLR Photography Group is an informal camera club of digital photographers in San Diego California. Our aim is to encourage DSLR owners to get the most from their cameras by joining a community of like-minded individuals who love their art and enjoy sharing their knowledge of photography.

We meet for regular photography group shoots on the second Saturday of each month at locations around San Diego County. The venue is usually announced on the web site around two weeks before the scheduled date. Images from the DSLR group shoots are shared on this site for all members to enjoy in a non-competitive way.

February Group Shoot: Leo Carrillo Ranch 2/13/10

The park opens at 9:00 AM so we will meet at 8:30 and the group photo will be at 8:50.

( Date corrected. It is indeed on Saturday 2/13/10)

This is a large, pedestrian-oritntated park and the terrain is rugged in some places. A self-guiding tour can take up to 2 hours so allow plenty of time, dress appropriately with emphasis on sturdy shoes, a hat and sunscreen. The facility is ADA-compliant but seniors may find the distances from the parking lot to major points of interest to be challenging. Some slopes are steep and should be approached with caution.

For security reasons - to protect the historical integrity of the principal structures, their interiors and their artifacts, visitors may find the buildings closed - EXCEPT during specifically scheduled tour hours when docents are on duty. However there is still plenty to see from the outside and elsewhere in the park.

Entrance and self guided tours are free.

Spams

I've been deleting dosens of spams in the last few days. Not the most efficient use of my time

Although I know a few people had issues with the creation of user accounts, but I have to go back to "approving" new accounts manually.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

8 minute PSP tutorial: Making of The Barn

Another big ol Experiment.  I posted a Shot called "The Barn" here in the galleries on SD dSLR. This vid is a real time how I got to the end result.  The shot was taken in RAW.  During the Conversion all I applied was sharpness (280) in Canons Digital Photo Professional as shots with the Diana + are super soft and super shallow dof.

  • The Shot was taken with Diana + 38mm Plastic lens on a Canon 5DmkII
  • Capitalize on the effect of the Diana by Making the Shot Black and White and mess it up a bit.
  • Create a Video Turtorial with Camtasia using Smart Panning
  • Link the Video on Smugmug here on SD dSLR

I did the narration after I did the processing so I did get a little goofed up there but really what I want to know from you all; is the Smart Panning that Camtasia does too much (bouncing around) for a tut like this. I promise I will script my narration in the future if I do any tuts, so that I don't miss steps and explain why I do certain things.

PaintShop Pro users can get an idea of my workflow and maybe pick up a trick or two.
